Do Traffic Exchanges Work?
Written on August 6, 2007 by William
It may sound biased coming from a traffic exchange owner but my answer is with out a doubt yes.
Why is then that there are some that will answer no to that question?
Well before I get into that let me tell you how I first came across traffic exchanges. I first got a computer for one reason and that reason was for music production. I had never used one before and I had never been on the internet.
When I bought my first computer (a Power Mac 6400) it came with a free trial to AOL and I tested it out.
It didn’t take long until I fell in love with the internet and started looking for ways to make some extra income to support my music ambitions.
I came across “the Secrets of the big dogs” and was introduced to traffic exchanges through that program.
I was told to add my affiliate link in all the exchanges and click away until I was rich.
Well I clicked and I clicked and I clicked for a few month’s and decided traffic exchanges don’t work.
A lot has change since then I got involved in numerous programs and online business since then but one thing was always talked about in each one of them.
They all told me to use traffic exchanges put in my affiliate link and I would become rich.
Now I know why there are so many people that think traffic exchanges don’t work. They were told to use them the wrong way. The program owners wanted to provide an inexpensive way for newer members to advertise and told them to use traffic exchanges.
It’s not that the program owners were trying to be deceitful, In fact according to their stats traffic exchanges did work. They worked great so they continued recommending them to new members.
“But how come they worked for the program owners and not the affiliates?” You ask.
Simple, If there is a new site launched and 1,000 members join and rush to traffic exchanges to promote it all the surfers are going to see the site over and aver again. Repetition works. The program’s name gets branded in the exchanges quickly and people start joining it left and right.
The problem is if you are one of those 1,000 people promoting the same exact link what are the chances that its going to be your link they join from? that’s right 1 in 1,000 chance of someone joining from your affiliate link that is rotating, and that’s if there are only 1,000 other affiliates.
Most site launches bring in more than that in the first 24 hours.
So the program owners page is being shown by thousands of affiliates and new members are coming in from the exchanges so as far as they can see traffic exchanges work.
You on the other hand have had your affiliate page seen thousands of times and you may have only gotten one sign up, to you they don’t work.
All is not lost though, even if you are not a program owner, or have thousands of affiliates showing your page you can still get great results using traffic exchanges.
As traffic exchange owner and user I have seen some great ideas go through some have stuck while others have gone under. I have seen people create complete business’s using them while others quite after a month saying they don’t work.
I have studied the differences between those that are successful and those that have failed and found 13 distinct mistakes, better yet tragedies, that are being made by thousands of exchange users.
These thirteen mistakes could be the difference between you building your business to be self sufficient or going to work at a 9to5 job.
Traffic exchanges do work as long as you are using them correctly and avoiding these 13 deadly tragedies!
